The IP to Country Database

Forum Topics : Support / Two-character country code vs. top level domain code

I noticed that the IP-to-country database uses "GB" for the geographical area that uses ".uk" as top level domain.
Aren't this database using the same iso standard as top level domains? Are there other countries I should watch out for?

Comparison: ip-to-country and tld

I compared the ip-to-country database to the IANA TLD whois list.

My conclusion: All country codes in the ip-to-country code are identical to (and present in) the IANA list, but the IANA list uses some country codes that are missing in the ip-to-country database.
"UK" is one of them. The ip-to-country database uses only "GB", IANA uses both "GB" and "UK". The following IANA country codes (TLDs) are not used in the ip-to-country database:

ac - Ascension Island
ai - Anguilla
ax - Aland Islands
